SMS Text Message is a plugin for WordPress that allows blog owners update their fellow readers via SMS Messages. I think it’s a Cool idea. The power of Internet Marketing is growing like a monster day by day. We have seen text based ads, Rss Feeds, Video Marketing and what not. So why not try the next biggest target being the cell phones. Well, it is definitely not a must have Plugin but it is a way by which you can touch base with readers easily. Plus, your Blog might look like a techno wiz blog for some :-).

With this plugin, it gives you the power to reach your audience in a quick and easy way.
The SMS Wordpress Plugin is still going through some enhanced developments. But, right now, the basic feature allows the users to sign up for blog updates with their phone numbers through a sidebar widget. Amazing stuff again. The blog owners can then periodically send alerts, messages etc., via SMS to every one who is willing to get the updates. I’m really excited and you quickly see me using it.
As of July 2008, the SMS Wordpress Plugin only works for US Carriers (Sorry Non US guys). Cell numbers can be entered in any format by the user. A nice parsing has been used in the plugin code that allows to take any numbers in formats like (123) 456-7890 or 123-456-7890 or 123 456 7890.

The SMS Text Message Wordpress plugin is really cool. I like it a lot. My problem with it is that the author forces his two links under the blog widget. This isn’t good for anyone but the author. Does anyone know of a similar plugin that essentially does the same thing without the forced links?
