SEO – Search engine optimization is the heart of search engine rankings and we all know that. So here are 10 of the most popular SEO techniques on how to optimize your website for the best search engine rankings or say to get a high google page rank.

Be bold. Use the tags around some of your keywords on every page. But Do NOT over use them like wherever the keyword appears. Google and other search engines are smarter to judge your intentions and is highly capable to rank a website based on its genuinity. So please take careful efforts to never trick the master, the search engines.

Deep linking. Make sure you have links spread all accross your website and in as many pages as possible. Search engines basically work from content linked to another. So many links within your content might interest the search engines to create an identity for the keywords that is linked. But these linked keywords have got to be relevant to what content they are linked to. Simply dont link any keywords to someother website or even your own website if you feel that there is no relevancy in doing so. Search engines will kick you right away, thinking you are a spammer. Also dont have every links that is only on the homepage. It might lead the search engines to think that the website is shallow and adds no value. Also, there is a common catch in the search engines that the links are auto generated when the links are only found on homepages.

Post to cross country directories. This helps to grow your website in the world space too and can help achieve a traffic from prominent countries like Canada, UK, China, India etc.,

Text Link your Menu. If you must have image links in your navigation bar, include also text links. By doing so, make sure the text links show up first in the source code, because search engine robots will follow the first link they find to any particular page. They won’t follow additional links to the same page.

The reason is first, search engines usually list only one page per domain for any given search, and you might warrant two. Second, directories usually accept only home pages, so you can get more directory listings this way. Don’t overdo the anchor text. You don’t want all your inbound links looking the same, because it might look like link automation – something that Google hates bottom down. Use your URL sometimes, your company name other times etc., The idea is to use some interchangeable links that is more meaningful for a context.

Site map. A big site needs a site map, which should be linked to from every page on the site. This will help the search engine robots find every page with just two clicks. A small site needs a site map, too. It’s called the navigation bar.
