I know of some bloggers who were asking the question in some forums: what is Search Engine Optimization?. So I thought it would be a better idea to explain and have a post on a question that really needs to be cleared, if one wants to succeed in the Internet medium through websites or blogs.

It is like a helping hand to let know the search engines that you have a webpage or a blog post for certain keyword searches. Well, you can only push to that extent as no one can understand the core secrets behind search engine algorithms.

Search Engine Optimization simply put is a process of choosing the most targeted keyword phrases related to your site and ensuring that the keywords would help rank your site highly in search engines, so you can enjoy the benefits of free and organic traffic from the search engines.

The most popular search engines are Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL and Ask Jeeves. Each of these search engines has their own unique algorithms. So you never can optimize your web pages for every single search engine. Bottom line is you got to target either Google or Yahoo and work on building your blog pages with SEO in mind.

Plan your niche, pick the best keywords in the niche and work on improvising your SEO tactics constantly.
